Nice auction. I love these vines! But actually what you have pictured is the Ipomoea alba moonvine. This is a night blooming morning glory and has no relation to the trumpet vine (which has orange blooms and is in the Catalpa/Bignonia family ). Not so sure about that very poisonous statement. The Aztecs used it medicinally, as an ingedient in rubber balls, and to give victims "horror trips". Think it depends more on part, preparation and dosage. Many potatoes (including commercial sweet potatoes) are in the same genus, but I wouldn't go gnawing on a vine of this either. To grow these you have to nick the seed with a fingernail file and then soak them in 80 degree water for 8 hrs before planting. Ours repropogate freely each year when the soil is above 80 and we get enough summer rains, but I'm told that only happens in tropical climates. .
@ akirablueberry - No, what you're looking for is the "castor oil " seed auction.
Thanks for the info this was passed to me by a lady i bought my peke from. She said they were trumpet vines and they were pretty much a pass along flower being you can't hardly find them at nurseries. Then after i planted them my neighbor informed me they were moon flowers & poisonous.
