The listing, WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS??? (Estate Sale Find) has ended.
I found this very unusual piece at an estate sale, and I don't know what it is! Does anyone know? There are no markings at all on this, and the paint shows signs of age, but I have no idea of it's true age or origin. PLEASE SEE ALL PICTURES for detail and measurements!

Questions & Comments
gosh I thought it was a straining individual tea pot, put a tea bag on top and pour water over it??
Hello, I own one of these! It came from my Granny-in-law, and the paperwork said it is a gravy strainer! It separates the fat and chunks from your homemade gravy! You pour your pan gravy on the top, it strains it so the bottom housing holds only the smooth gravy.
well! no wonder it always made a mess when i tried! I think granny put wrong paperwork with it! that's why it's been put away for years in my china cabinet, cuz it didn't work!!! laughing at myself and granny!!!
Whoever gets this( and I hope it's me), using a brush and soap is such a cool old fashioned way to shave and with quality soap, you will enjoy it more than using shave cream. I happen to have a three day auction going on right now for some really good tallow based old fashioned shave soap, just FYI. Hope you don't mind me plugging my auction here. It's just that it relates to your item. Thanks
its a antique shaveing mug you put the shaveing soap on top, you dip your shaveing brush in the lower part, that would have hot water in it, than rub the wet brush on the soap till a lather forms.....have one my self
I thought that, too, at first. But when I "binged" antique shaving cups, and saw many similar ones, I know it had to be a shaving cup. I guess you could use it for tea! Maybe it's a multi-purpose cup! lol
