Vermeil (pronounced /?v?rm?l/ or /v?r?me?/; French: [v???m?j]), a French word which came into use in the English language, mostly in America, in the 19th century as an alternative for the usual term silver-gilt,[1] is a combination of sterling silver, gold, and other precious metals. It is commonly used as a component in jewelry. A typical example is sterling silver coated with 14 carat (58%) gold. To be considered vermeil, the gold must be at least 10 carat (42%) and be at least 2.5 microns thick.

Uh im ganna say yes..the tag says genuine ruby...i have not taken it to a jeweler,,but genuine usualy means real..I bought these in a lot and have decided to list them on here..may be there is a difference between genuine and real?..Im gonna go w/ the fact that it says genuine, so its real, they are very petite necklaces..they rubys are small as is the charm they are in.
