Description

The listing, Nasturtium SEED: Canary Creeper Vine, Canary Bird Vine *Edible Plant & Flower* has ended.

Nasturtium
(Tropaeolum peregrinum)

8 organic seeds to high bidder.

*******Only the first pic is of a fully mature/open flower********

The Canary Creeper Vine is absolutely gorgeous! It is a climbing vine that can be a perennial in places with mild winters, but it is grown as an annual in areas where there are hard frosts. It grows quickly and blooms heavily. Give it something to climb and it will reach 10 - 12 feet in height. It's in the nasturtium family, and likes full sun to partial shade in moist but well-draining soil. The name of the flower describes the bright yellow blooms that are somewhat bird-like. They have upper petals that are fringed and resemble wings, and the lower petals are spurred. The flowers and leaves are edible and have the peppery taste common to nasturtium…very showy in a salad!

EASY TO GROW:
It is recommended to file the seed or nick it with a knife to break the hard outer coat. Follow the nicking by soaking the seed in warm tap water for 24 hours. This seed needs darkness to germinate, see that they are fully covered.

• Start the seed directly outdoors after danger of frost has passed.
• Press the seed into the soil, cover the seed with 1/4 inch of soil, and keep it moist.
• With a temperature of 70F, germination is normally 7-14 days.
• Space plants 18 - 24 inches apart.

Well maybe I'm mistaken but it sure looks bizzare to me and I wouldn't eat it. If its not a common nasturtium it should not be called one in the listing title.
