Description

The listing, 'Snow Flake' Obsidian Mineral Specimen has ended.

Nother all natural snowflake obsidian from Utah, found by me! Not just any old black obsidian, but jet black, super lustrous obsidian with white inclusions reminiscent of snow! Perfect as a gift for a young ones collection or to cut/make into something else.
The black color is dull because of being naturally smoothed by wind and sand. There are no 'fresh' bright/shiny break surfaces on this piece. One could strike the rock with a glancing blow with a hammer to show a 'clean' surface.

Size: Approx 1.5 wide x 1.5 tall x 3 long"
Shipping $2.50, USA only, -Paypal, M/o concealed cash. I will combine!

I have been wanting to take a trip to Utah for some time now to go rock collecting. Are there any places that you would personally recommend?

Hmm there are quite a few places. A great place to start are in the Gem Trail guide books. The 'easy' to find stuff at the locations might be hard to find, but there is always something interesting to find. One of my favorite places is Topaz Mountain, about 30 miles outside of Delta, UT. You chip the hard rock and find cavities of beautuiful champagne colored topaz. You can even just look where others have broken rock and find them. Also, check out this site: http://www.xmission.com/~jbdaniel/locations.htm there are locations based on county. A lot of fossil locations too. Furthermore, do a search for " Utah rockhounding" and you should find many resources. Cheers~
