Description

The listing, Powder puff plant seeds- very unique!!! has ended.

These beautiful and inticate plants make a flower like a powder puff. The color above is accurate. Depending on how you prune this plant, you can have a bush or small tree. These seeds start easily, and once established will give you more seeds(they have seed pods). The flower starts out looking like a raspberry, and then it opens to a thing of beauty. As you can see, each little spike on the flower has a greenish tip on them. I will send 10 seeds.

This plant is a southern plant. People in the northern states have to take it in in the winter. The photo above that is a tree is just an example of what they can become. It is not my photo. But yes, you would have to trim around bottom to get this effect.

Are they perennial? I'm in zone 5
May 22nd, 2014 at 6:46:28 PM PDT by

Where is zone 5? I am in FL and we haven't had anything cold enough to hurt this plant so I have flowers all year. I just googled it and if you are north of zone 10 they are mostly indoor plants and if healthy, can bloom all year there too. They are a large bush or small tree down here and if you have a big container it will probably get pretty big up there.. They say lots of light. I would think so as I guess they are a more southern plant naturally. So, perennials... yes! I hope that helps.

Ha! I was born in Ohio. My sister is there in Lima and she has great summer gardens. But unlike here, I guess you have to adjust to the winter by digging things up or bringing them in. If you wanted, I would think a potted powder puff could be taken outside for the summer. I would just not give it too much sun so it doesn't go into shock right off the bat and then take it back in when it starts to get chilly. We have nights in the low 30s and sometimes 20s (not often) so that's probably when you should take it in. Maybe when it dips into the 30s.

The flowers are round balls instead of long flowers that the bottle brush has, but they are similar loooking. I also have a bottlebrush. The P.Puff doesn't grow as big. thanks for looking.

The real name for this tree is Mimosa and they are my favorite tree. We had one out front of our house here in Oregon when I was growing up. The blossoms are rather ethereal and the fragrance is Intoxicating

This is a mimosa , see the leaves? They look completely different than the leaves in your photos ... Also when you touch the leaves do they close? Mimosa leaves close when they're touched ( so cool huh) and they also close at night ... I'm wondering if you have something like a hybrid or I don't know , the flowers look like mimosa though :)

Nice auction! The flowers LOOK like a mimosa to me, I have big mimosa tree in my back yard that started as a naturalized seed that blew in years ago , anyhow yours looks different, the leaves etc on the tree or bush in photo 2 don't look like mimosa to me so I'm confused , HAHa you just gave me a great reason to google and learn which I love doing , thank you ! And best of luck on your auction! :) F&W !

I have one of these beautiful plants beside my house and I would love to promote this plant by saying, it is gorgeous during the summertime, hummingbirds fly around it for its nectar and it gives off a sweet scent. My mother and father planted the tree when I was little and now it's taller than my house! It's a wonderful climbing tree if it grows healthy. Anyways that's my opinion on this plant.

Are you sure you're not talking about a bottlebrush tree. Anyway, Thanks for the publicity. :)

This does look like a Bottle Brush Tree. I had great luck with them in Florida, they grown tall and round, with little to no care. Too bad I live in Vermont now, it wouldnt be very pleased here ... lovely plant

That small container one was likely a bonsai plant
May 25th, 2014 at 8:48:37 AM PDT by
Original
Yes I think so too. Maybe they use small containers so the roots can grow much, thus dwarfing the plant. I know nothing about bonsai plants except they're small and very interesting.
