Description

The listing, USPS EMPLOYEES ISSUE (1973) 5 stamps [on paper] has ended.

Four different stamps of the ten in the se-tenent sheet. Five (in all) used on one package.
There is an un-separated pair and a strip of three.

The stamps include:

1496 - 8¢ Loading Mail Truck
1497 - 8¢ Mail Carrier

and on the strip of 3:

1994 - 8¢ Manual Letter Routing
1995 - 8¢ Electronic Letter Routing
1996 - 8¢ Loading Mail Truck

All are cancelled.

Of some interest is that these stamps were issued with an invisible phosphor tag of a 1/2-inch horizontal band. It can be seen under UV (black light). It was used to assist in sorting and handling of the mail.

Also, these stamps were printed (on the backside under the gum with a green, water-soluble ink) showing the logo of the Postal Service and the phrase, "People Serving You".
[If you SOAKed these off with water, you will lose the imprint on the back.]

Correction:
The numbers for the strip of 3 should have been:
1494,1495 and 1496

Once a bid is placed the auction can't be edited - sorry but I noticed this error to late.

I HATE TYPING!!!! That should be: "too late" not "to late".

Thank you for your bid, SnailMailGalPla!

That's fantastic Whitefoote, I look forward to more of your auctions. Right now I am gathering foreign airmail and overlays but before I create some auctions, I want to find out some information on the stamps to write up a little description about them.

It's difficult with some of the overlays though, as I can barely read what letter, number or symbol is on them even with a magnifying light due to wear and age, but having a great time learning!
