Description

The listing, WHITE & RED DESERT ROSE Seeds - Adenium obesum - Beautiful has ended.

The first pic is the one you're bidding on. The last pic is of wild Desert Rose.

Winner receives 5 seeds - WHITE & RED FLOWER

***Please note that I only have 5 seeds of this particular Desert Rose (color) left. If you want THIS color, this is all of it. I do have other colors and types (doubles & singles) however. See my other auctions.***

The desert rose plant is a succulent that features thickened stems and hardy foliage. It grows from a rounded base known as a caudex, most or all of which may be underground. Above ground, the caudex may appear globelike or cone-like before branching into individual thick-stemmed branches. The caudex becomes more difficult to distinguish from the branches as the plant ages. When well established, the desert rose grows slowly and may live for hundreds of years.

Desert rose plants will do well in most yards as long as they receive full sun and the temperature rarely falls below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Temperatures below 35 degrees Fahrenheit may seriously damage the plant. Desert rose rarely need to be watered, but may suffer from too much water if the ground is too wet or does not drain properly. Planting desert rose in raised beds can help solve this problem.

BE AWARE, THE WHOLE PLANT IS POISONOUS. DO NOT INGEST ANY PORTION OF IT.

oooweee...how precious! It looks like a Bonsai :) Would it overwinter indoors? Also how tall does it get?

They will get as big as the pot allows...one of mine busted a clay pot with the root, because I didn't re pot fast enough. They are very tender and must be kept out of any frost. In their natural habitat, they get HUGE! They are a tree. Sort of? :)

There's something about a plant showing its roots that I just love. It's so rare to see what goes on below ground, plus it make a plant look so ancient. I'm in...F&W&BIDDING!

You missed all the different colored doubles I had a while back. These are the "plain" ones. I have a friend who has about 25-30 different kinds, who sends me some of each now & then. I think she's trying to get me hooked. *lol* Thanks for the bids, my friend.

I got my first Desert Rose (colored like the one in this auction) in June, 1987. It was almost a foot tall, and in bloom, with a very large above ground root/trunk. I paid $120.00 for it. This single blossom is what the wild ones look like, slightly improved in size. They are sooo beautiful! I am just all out of indoor room for plants this year, or I would have kept more. Next time my friend sends me seeds, I'll hook you up. :)

Ok, after reading again...when grown in this manner, this IS A BONSAI! After all, its a large tree being dwarfed by its pot. Lovin It!! And roger that on the hook up :)...that's just what I need~more plant obsessions lol.

Yes, but remember, mine got tired of being a bonsai and the root broke my really heavy (expensive), terra cotta pot. :( There are many worse obsessions! *lol*

Careful not to water very often...they need a dry season. Mine blooms in Feb. every year, when all the rest are bare of blooms.
