The listing, Bag of Watches and Watch Parts has ended.
his is a bag of watches and watch parts that I took out of a box and divided between 2 bags . Both are being listed. Some of the watches look pretty good, there are a lot of bands both older and new and many parts to work with. These are one box of many that my late Brother-in-law collected to work on one day but never got around to it. Help with shipping please, I'll mail them priority and split the cost with the winner. Thanks so much for looking!
Questions & Comments
This is a cool lot, but you'd get a LOT more bids if you can describe the brands, and any special items that might be marked. Watches are a very complicated collector item, some are very valuable and collectors really look for them! The more info you can give, the more credits you will get, particularly if there is something special in that bunch of watches ... since your brother-in-law was a hobbyist, they might be something good. I'm so sorry for your loss, by the way ...
Thanks so much, both for the info and the condolences! He has many more boxes of these watches and parts, this batch however seems to be more bands and off brands or no brands so I was hoping someone may need odd parts that are universal..(?) I don't even know if watch parts are like that, lol. Thanks again, kathie
Fair warning, it will consume a lot of hours to research, photograph, etc. all those watches. Another good option is to send them to auction if you have an auction house nearby. The auction house may be able to identify any that might have value and separate those out, and sell all the "junk" stuff as a box lot. They can be very helpful that way.
Honestly, if you have a few watches that seem to be worth more than $5 or $10 each, you might want to put a group of them in one lot on ebay. Just be SURE to give a COMPLETE description. Watch collectors are VERY picky and will bombard you with questions if they don't know exactly what they are bidding on!
Collectors like multiple lots, and it's worth selling them as a group to avoid all the hassle and costs of shipping them individually. Not sure how many watch collectors are on Listia, it may be a rather limited market here.
It's a lot of work to try to figure out the value of old watches. One really good place to look is ebay ... look for watches that are the same brand, have the same markings (17 jewels or whatever) and look at the completed items to see what they are selling for. Most, I'm sure, don't sell for much but if you have one or two that ARE valuable, it's good to know before you put them on Listia.
Oh the sterling silver one? Too bad I don't have another! I'm a little low on silver jewelry but I have a sterling & semi-precious stone tennis bracelet I'm thinking of putting up for auction
