Safflower bloom in red, yellow and orange flowers. They are a good flower for drying. They make an excellent food for small songbirds.Plant seeds away from foot traffic as the plants are covered in stiff spines. The plants grow up to 3 feet tall. Plant in late April and May for July harvest. Wearing gloves remove the seeds by crushing the dried flowers. You can expect 15 to 20 seeds per flower.
