Description
The listing, Antique BLACK Crochet Hook Boye 1940's History has ended.
World War II involved most of the countries around the world and lasted from 1939-1945. The US entered the war Dec 7 1941.
In May of 1942, the US government made an order stopping the manufacture of nickel plated crochet hooks. To keep making needle craft tools, Boye developed a hot oxide method of coating the steel tools. They used this method from June - August 1942. Just 3 months! Due to the short time of manufacture, these black hooks are prized by collectors and Boye collectors as well.
This hook is in excellent condition, black, and a size 14. It measures 5 inches long.
