Description

The listing, WW2/WWII American Named Purple Heart Medal and Ribbon with Oak Leaf has ended.

Up for bid is a really nice WW2 U.S. Army Purple Heart and ribbon with Oak Leaf cluster signifying an additional receipt of this award. The name on the medal is John C. Lash. I feel named medals make them so much more personal than non named ones when it come to collecting vintage military items. This set would look great in ANY collection!!! Any questions please feel free to ask. Negative comments will be deleted and you will be blocked. Thank you all so much and happy bidding!!!!! As always FREE SHIPPING IN THE USA!!!!!

I thought you could not sell the Purple Heart Medal, isn't it a law about not selling it???

The Stolen Valor act was deemed unconstitutional a few years ago. I know the Congressional Medal of Honor is illegal to buy and sell, but I believe all others can be traded on the open market.

I beg to differ about the low life comment, mainly since I had bid on it, but to each their own. A great deal of collectors like these because it gives them more of an appreciation for the armed services on a more personal level.

Ignore them buddy....they are all mis informed and have NO idea what they are talking about anyway..... I never wear anything I get, that's just foolish and disrespectful. I am a collector of all WW1 and WW2 items from all sides. The ONLY medal that is illegal to sell is the Medal of Honor and all those medals for the most part are in museums, private collections or still in the family. No museum wants Purple Heart medals unless there is a famous person from history behind it. I have 2 other Purple Hearts in my collection also. One is my Grandfathers from WW2 and the other is just one I bought years ago at an antique store. People just need to chill out and look at it as a piece of history...the story may be lost and maybe he had no family to pass it down to....that's how most of these items get onto the market.

The proper thing to do, would be try to find the person or a relative of the person and return it where it belongs.

What denotes this as a second world war item?
Thanks, Gary

Well for the most part all Purple Hearts issued to this day where made in anticipation for if we invade mainland Japan in WW2...we didn't end up having to so there was around 1,000,000 unissued awards. Ive found a John C Lash in WW2 that fought the Japs and was wounded twice. The medal I got from a buddy of mine out west where he said the man lived and died. The tricky part is there were a lot of other soldiers named John Lash when I tried to look him up online. Thanks for the interest!!!

Not the Purple Heart!!!! It is against the federal law, can not be sold, there can be jail time. Even the buyer can get in trouble for buying it!!!! I will contact listia and also turn them in to the federal authorities!!!!

I did some checking and you can buy and sell the Purple Heart, but you can't wear it, unless you earned it. This would be a violation of the Stolen Valor Act and is punishable by the law!!!! Still if you did not earn it, you should not be able to sell or buy it!!!! Only a low life would do something like this!!!!

You can beg to differ all you want about the comment, I know you had bid on it and it's wrong, there are so many who take these medals and wear them and say they have been in the service and I don't see how as a collector would have more of an appreciation for the armed services on a personal level, than the one's who earned them. If you wanted one, you should have earned it. Just like roger1158 said the proper thing to do, is try to find the person or relative of the person and return it where it belongs so they have an appreciation for the armed services and the love one who earned it. My grandfather and father died giving their lives to the service of this great country and I still to this day have their Purple Hearts, so don't tell me about the appreciation it gives you as a collector, because you will never know and it's not the same appreciation as someone you loved and lost who earned the right!!!!!!!! Ask any armed services, how they would feel about this and I'm sure the would tell you where to go!!!!

I have MANY friends that are veterans and they have no issue with me selling or trading ANYTHING so long as its not being worn. I never wear anything I get, that's just foolish and disrespectful. People just need to chill out and look at it as a piece of history...the story may be lost and maybe he had no family to pass it down to....that's how most of these items get onto the market. Get your facts strait before you go and muck up peoples auctions for whom you have NO IDEA of who they are or anything about them.
