Description

The listing, Purple "Mei Tai" style baby carrier has ended.

This was my first attempt at a Mei Tai style carrier (a couple years ago ) it's not the prettiest, but it works.

Padded carrier, padded shoulders and padded hip straps.

One size fits most, will hold up to 40 pounds of baby. Still holds my 3 year old comfortably.

Nah.... just too cheap to buy most things lol. Moby wraps are $40! I can make one for $6; full retail is RIDICULOUS!!!!

I agree! I did find a Moby at Goodwill for $7, so that was a major SCORE! I want to make a woven ring sling, but am not confident enough in my sewing skills!

all you need to be able to sew is a straght line and an edge zig zag stitch ;-) AND if your goodwill has those woven hammocks like mine does, you're already more than half way there!

BAM. I actually bought a woven hammock from there a couple of weeks ago. We have a hammock stand, but this one won't work in it. THANK YOU for being a genius!

Awesome job! I loved the Mei Tai with my daughter! Now I wanna take my size 7 Kokadi Erna In Wunderland and turn it into a SSC or Mei Tai but my sewing skills are zero lol. Fanned and watching!!!

Thanks. The hardest part was sewing through the padding, if you used thinner batting, you could probably do it ;-)

I just googled kokadi wraps.... if you paid $155 for that sucker, you better leave it intact and eBay it instead! lol... I'm pretty sure you could find a cute wonderland print fabric at joanns or hancock and make your own mei tai and still have enough money left over to refurbish your daughter's bedroom for that much!

Can you add a photo of how this wraps around you to hold the baby?

It will be so very much appreciated!

You're welcome. Photos are really useless when describing how to wear one, you gotta see the videos for a better idea of how it works!

Does it work on the hip when they are 22 pounds

It's supposed to hold up to toddler age, regardless of how you wear it. The positioning doesn't change the capacity, but it probably wouldn't be as comfortable on the hip with a bigger kid

Can you post how to use it on your hip. Very interested

I only ever used it on the back or front, but google says you tie it around your waist, then instead of a strap over each shoulder, you cross one over your front, one over your back and cross them over the opposite shoulder then come around and tie like usual, so I'm guessing it's like a crossbody shoulder bag, with all the weight being carried on the neck and opposite shoulder
