Here I present to you a beautiful Victorian brooch that is hand painted on porcelain. It features pink flowers, perhaps roses or peonies, and green foliage. There is a wavy, scroll-like border with the edge done in gold. You can see that this was painted by a relative amateur because the border is not even all the way around and there is more gold inn some areas. I don't think this detracts from the pretty brooch at all; it just makes it more endearing. I can imagine an ordinary Victorian woman (younger or older) carefully painting this brooch for a family member (daughter, mother) or a dear friend.

Some of the gold has worn off, but otherwise the brooch is in very good condition. It has a brass backing with prongs holding the porcelain in place. There is a very simple pin on the back with a "C" closure. It measures 2.25 x 1.75 inches.
