Description

The listing, 6 Real Photo Postcards RPPCs of Cute Kids from the Early 1900s has ended.

Up for consideration is a nice lot of six RPPCs or real photo post cards, which date from the 1910s-20s. They are all of adorable children--I especially like the card with the little girl holding a toy boat. Interestingly, the card was
written on January 8, 1915, just four months before Italy declared war on Austria-Hungary. It was addressed to Captain Alberto Volpim of the infantry division ?? of war.

The card with the baby and the moving boy makes me laugh. I wonder how many times his mother told him to stand still and pose for the camera. Apparently she gave up and used this photo anyway. The little boy posed looking up is John Duncan Rollo of Portland, Oregon. He looks so peaceful and serene!

All but one of the postcards have writing on them and only the Italian card was sent postally. Most of the writing was recording age and birthdates of the children. All of the cards are in good condition--the Italian card does have a crease across the middle and upper right corner as well as some some edge wear.

Shipping is free to US Listia-verified addresses only. Please refer to the photographs and ask any questions prior to bidding. Thanks for viewing my auction!

So im looking at your photos & does the one that says Eva is that the one that says Aunt Mary on the back? Weird! My grandma was born in 1916 & we had an aunt eva. How totally crazy i just got chills. I gotta show that pic to my mom.

Yes, it's the same postcard. I love looking at and collecting old photos, and I sometimes wonder if I could come across any of my relatives' photos. It hasn't happened yet, but I am always on the lookout. Just the thought of it gives me chills.

I get the chills too when i look at old items, i love the photos that have writing & the date on the back, it gives life to the picture & when old items have a story that comes along with it you can kinda get a feel of who or when it was used. I sent the picture to my mom but she said aunt eva was born in the late 1800's so that couldnt be her but it sure looks like some of the pictures we hv of her as a baby. its very possible that some of my families pictures are floating around out there & maybe one of these days i'll come across some of them. How crazy would that be?

It would be crazy but so cool! I also collect old postcards and I love to read the backs. I'm always on the lookout for a card written by someone in my family. Haven't found one yet :)

I don't know if you're a member of ancestry.com or not but have you ever thought of uploading pictures like this to the website like ancientfaces.com?

I've never heard of ancientfaces.com before. Is it like a bulletin board for identifying your ancestors?

Ancientfaces.com is a site where you can go to upload pictures of ancestors or to upload old photos of people that you don't know. When you upload them you can also add any other information that you know. Many genealogists use it. :)

One of the reasons that I mentioned this is because I recently got a message from someone who came across my family tree on ancestry. She found my tree because she found a picture of an ancestor of mine in an antique store. It was a framed picture and she wanted the frame. She then asked me if I wanted a scanned copy of the picture of my ancestor. It was one of the neatest surprises that I've had in awhile. It came to me that since you know the name's of this children maybe their ancestors are looking for pictures of them.

Wow! I just checked out ancient faces--what a trip! I haven't found any of my relatives yet, but it fascinating looking at all of the photos and histories. I have many photos with names, and I will definitely be posting them on ancient faces. What a great site! Thanks so much!
