The listing, Heirloom Cotton Seeds has ended.
This is not your average cotton plant. These seeds came from the heirloom variety that was grown in 18th century Virginia. The plant gets taller than modern cotton.
Help save the old genetics. These seeds are from plants grown from seeds of Colonial Williamsburg's plants. I have plenty, and am happy to share. I will send seeds, not the whole pod to make shipping easier.
Note: I do not have documentation on the exact scientific name of these seeds. I am sorry. It is levent cotton, but that is the best I can do.
You know, I have no idea. I was so interested in the cotton that I never paid much attention. The flowers are yellow, and the plant branches so it has a few different arms. I do lots of ethnic crafts, so it was all about the cotton for me. Now I'm just in a small apartment and don't have the room to grow as many seeds as I have. I literally have a few bags of them. I only need a packet for myself lol
umm i never sat and counted...there are MANY per pod, and they stick so thickly to the cotton that they retain some cotton once pulled out. The act of removing the seeds in the colonial times was a childrens rainy day chore because it can take hours to get all the seeds from a small basket of this cotton
