Description

The listing, Dracaena Fragrans-Massangeana Houseplant x 6 seeds has ended.

Dracaena is a corn plant. It is a house plant.

The first 2 pics are stock and the last 2 are of mine on the front porch. I have had it for about 4 years. I put it outside on the front porch after the last frost with most of my house plants and bring it in before the first frost. Just about a month ago, it started blooming. It had never bloomed before and I have never known of one to bloom I kept an eye on it and waited for the blooms to dry so I could get the seeds from it. It was absolutely gorgeous. These seeds are just a couple of weeks freshly dried. You can see the blooms in the second stock pic. I looked it up and found out that blooming is not a common event. The color of the small flowers is white. The flower stalks emerge out of the center of the leaf whorl and will grow to 3ft in length, arching to the ground. In the evening, the plant gives a sweet fragrance that is noticeable for hundreds of feet. They usually flower because they've been exposed to temperatures below 50-55 degrees for long periods of time. They can drip nectar which can stain whatever carpeting or furniture is underneath. The nectar can attract ants and other insects since it is so sweet. They are tolerant to low light but will do their best with bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun in the afternoon. They do well with a weekly soaking. Avoid letting them dry out completely. They also like to be a bit potbound.

To plant seed--- Use good potting soil and barely press the seed into soil because it needs light to germinate. Keep soil uniformely moist but not soggy and keep temperature warm. The seeds take from 30-180 days to germinate and germination may be speratic. So if one germinates and the others don't, be patient, the others may come up in their own time.
