A member of the 1984 World Champion Tigers team, Kirk would find himself in Dodger Blue in 1988 where he won MVP and hit one of baseball's most iconic home runs, a 9th inning pinch-hit blast in game 1 of the 1988 World Series that stunned the heavily favored A's and gave the Dodgers the needed gusto to topple them in the Series.
