This rare fifty cent piece is termed "NIFC" or "not issued for circulation." These coins were only issued by the mint to be placed in mint sets or to be sold directly to collectors and dealers. It is very uncommon to find an NIFC coin in everyday pocket change. This example was minted in Denver 16 years ago and has a brilliant shine to it. It does NOT contain silver, but is still very collectible and seldomly seen.
