Small heavy metal box, brass? I really have no idea what it is. just know that it is very old. 1 1/8 inch tall, 1 1/2 inch length, 1 1/16 inch wide.

looks like a trinket box or maybe even a personal ashtray, they made and used those at the end of 18th century and the beginning of 19th century, I used to have one but it had a piece that popped out to set cig on. F&W nice piece
