The listing, Wow - Fantastic Batch of U.S. 1980s PRECANCELLED Stamps -- Bulk Rate Presorted - A REAL FIND! has ended.
You don't often see denominations like these - 12.5 cents, 13.2 cents, 10.1 cents, 8.3 cents - 15 stamps in all!
Most of these collectible stamps feature lovely drawings of some of remarkable vintage inventions in U.S. history: the coal car of the 1870s, oil wagon of the 1890s, ambulance of the 1860s, pushcart of the 1880s, railroad mail car, the dog sled and wheel chair of the 1920s. Almost all are coil stamps, which came off a roll of stamps.
The red precancel lettering says things like: Bulk Rate Carrier Route Sort; Pre-Sorted First Class; and Nonprofit - and indicate the reduced cost of mailing the letter.
They were cancelled before sale by the post office and registered to large organizations for bulk mailing, to reduce the time and the handling of mail by the postal service.
As always, these are scans of the actual genuine vintage stamps you will receive, so please look closely before you bid - or feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks for looking (and thanks to Listian Whitefoot for educating me on what these are called and how they were used!)
