Questions & Comments
Symptoms of Nickel Allergy You’ll usually see symptoms 6 to 24 hours after you’re exposed. They include itching, redness, rash, dry patches, and swelling of the skin, sometimes followed by blisters. The blisters may break, leaving crusts and scales. If left untreated, your skin may become dark, leathery, and cracked. Usually the rash is only on the part of your skin in direct contact with the nickel. In serious cases, the rash may spread. Sweating may make it worse.
Test and Treatments Often your doctor can diagnose a nickel allergy by looking at your skin and asking if you’ve touched anything metal. A dermatologist also can do a simple skin patch test. The doctor puts tiny amounts of nickel and other allergens on patches, which are applied to your upper back. The patches must stay on for 48 hours. If you are allergic to nickel, your skin will likely show a reaction after 48 hours. In some cases, you'll need more tests. Once a nickel allergy develops, it often lasts your whole life. But there are ways to ease your symptoms. The most important thing you can do is avoid contact with objects that can cause a reaction. For mild symptoms, a hydrocortisone cream and antihistamine pills you can buy at the drug store may help. If your skin is cracked or blistered, you should take off any metal jewelry right away and see your doctor for treatment to prevent infection.
Here are tips to avoid a nickel allergy: If you have your ears or other body parts pierced, have it done with a stainless steel. Make sure your jewelry is made of stainless steel or either 18- or 24-karat gold. Look for jewelry that is hypoallergenic -- made of stainless steel, at least 14-karat gold, pure sterling silver, or polycarbonate plastic. If you must wear earrings that contain nickel, add plastic covers made specifically for earring studs. If a good piece of jewelry that you wear daily -- such as a wedding ring -- causes a reaction, ask a jeweler about having it plated in a less allergic metal, such as platinum.
I appreciate weighing this in because I don’t want you to get an item/product that can harm you. My own ears can stand a few hour /or a day of wearing fun earrings-such as in Christmas when I love wearing holiday theme earrings but usually I wear gold because I suffer from a similar problem as you. I don’t see a way around it unless you are willing to invest money and have a jeweler insert hypo allergic/gold hoops to them or anything that you can stand in your ears and then be attached to the circle but then it would kinda be awkward that a small part of the earrings are gold and the rest is not…Why not have them all in Gold? I wish! Anyway, I think I saw in another earrings auction you asked a similar question and I am so sorry. I myself cannot wear regular make up so I know how it feels. Nothing is worth an ear infection! Although that special design is unique (there are other kinds and they are not cheap either) they are still mass market and not designed to specific health requirements. Basically any earrings that are not gold would case you harm no matter what if you are sensitive. I wish I could offer them in Gold but that’s probably a special order. I will look around and if I see more Hunger Games merchandise I promise to let you know. I do have the pin but I do like to wear it myself. I offered the earrings because I have enough other pairs to wear. Not sure if you use alcohol on them before wearing them would help any? Please don’t bid as I don’t want the auction to be a source of pain or regret for you.
*crosses fingers* may the odds ever be in my favor lol indeed!!! haha..
you are welcome :)
I do hope you can wear them but in your case if not I will accept them back and return your credit-
I hope the gel will work for you but again if it causes any issues just return them!
I want you to win them, you deserve them, but make sure they will cause you no trouble at all as they are supposed to be an empowering cameo/charm of sorts and not a source of irritation and agony!! Good luck :)

Can be applied to all metal surfaces that may come in contact with your skin like earrings, rings, clasps, snaps on jeans, etc. Dries crystal clear and can be reapplied as needed. .
A little extra info. from a satisfied customer: One more thing. I had to switch to rubber backs totally. I couldn't get enough L'Protect on the metal backs to make the itching go away, so tell people to try the rubber backs.
