The listing, Wow! 1963 Topps #165 JIM KAAT (Twins) has ended.
This is a 1963 Topps #165 JIM KAAT baseball card!
Kaat was a superstar pitcher who came very close to 300 wins in his career, including a league-leading 25 wins in 1966 when he was named the Sporting News AL Pitcher of the year. He won 20 or more on 2 other occasions, and 15 or more 8 times. Named to multiple All Star teams, he managed double-digit wins for an amazing 15 straight seasons and won an unprecedented 16 consecutive Gold Glove awards. Greg Maddux broke his record for total Gold Gloves (Maddux won 18), but did not do them consecutively like Kaat did. Originally called up by the Senators in 1959, he was finally moved to the bullpen in 1979 by the Yankees and he remained a reliever for his last 5 seasons. He pitched in 4 different decades, one of only a handful of players to do so.
Since retiring, he has spent his career in the broadcast booth, calling games for the Twins, 12 seasons for the Yankees, and for MLB Network and ESPN.
Aside from being off center, this card is in great shape. check out the pictures.
