I do not know how to tell if they are real. They sure are pretty and about 14 inches long, Do not know what the clasp is made of but it is gold in color. It was my mother-in-laws and she has passed so I know nothing about them

You can test them for authenticity by rubbing them against your teeth. If they feel gritty, harsh, or rough and give off a scrubbing grinding sound...they are definitely REAL. If they feel smooth...they are FAKE! You will be able to tell the difference.
