The listing, THE CUP has ended.
This first film from Norbu, a Buddhist monk, is a refreshing, hopeful story that manages to remain optimistic without succumbing to overt sentimentality. THE CUP tells the tale of a small Tibetan monastery in Bhutan whose traditionally closed doors are opened when a group of small boys are unable to stifle their love for soccer. As their master struggles to accept their fascination with the sport, one of the boys mounts a campaign that will enable them to watch the World Cup inside the monastery.
