It goes smoothly through a peace of paper, It cute through hard plastic. Not this one but one of my own I make points on sticks for my kids to roast marshmallows, Meat for the camp fire. I've cute my para cord with one. So I would assume this one is just as sharp. And for the record this one has not been used except to try on cardboard and paper and it cuts very good.
