A synthetic stone is chemically and gemologically the equal to and sometimes more perfect than the natural stone. The difference is that the synthetic is made in a lab... hence sometimes synthetics are referred to as "Lab" or "created" stones. Some sellers will try to hide the fact that the stones are not natural and inadvertantly commit fraud.

This item contains a faceted stone that was created in a laboratory. The individual stones are more perfect than natural stones, containing fewer or no impurities and inclusions.

I agree... free shipping will always provoke more bids, but often they are lower bids. If both shipping and the item is free then there is NO value to the winner. The item is already FREE because no money changes hands but there is an implied value with the magnitude of the bid.

I will offer some of my auctions with free shipping, but items with real dollar value will be shipped by the safest most secure method. In this case, USPS Priority mail which provides security and speed. To offset the cost, I will always allow combining wins over a 7 day period for the rate of one item.
