The listing, Antique DOG Wirehaired ~ Welsh ~ Lakeland ~ Airdale TERRIER Porcelain Japan has ended.
Up for bid is some kind of Terrier (?) Who knows which one was the model was for this old figurine! May even be a Schnauzer
I purchased this porcelain / ceramic dog at a recent church sale. I have purchased a lot of dogs in my day, but never saw a green one like this with the facial features in yellow!
It has "Made in Japan" on one foot. It originally had a souvenir "Cleveland, Ohio" decal on its side, but most of that is gone. You can still see the word Cleveland.
There may be a bit off the tail. It looks like it's under glaze so not sure if the darker part is original or not. Bit of roughness there also, so it may have been a repair. It did not show up in photos, so I tried to scan it, which also didn't do a great job. The scan is enlarged, so it makes the bit look larger and worse than it really is.
That said, it's barely noticeable on display, but I try to mention every little thing. No other damage (cracks or crazing). The spot on the underside of the dog's jaw is camera reflection -- there is nothing there.
I was intrigued by the hand painted yellow facial features. Seems an odd color choice! This guy measures 5" wide, by 4½" tall.
If you collect these types, I would think this a nice addition to a collection
