It is pretty but this is the second time I saw a mother and baby turtle fewelry item. The artist obviously doesn't know anything about turtles. Mother turtle climb out of the water and find a nice place to dig a hole. She lays her eggs there and swims away and never sees her babies again. I even had a creek in my front yard and saw the babies struggling to get in the water. Sometimes they went in the wrong direction and we helped them to the water. There they are on their own to survive or not.

Artists usually do not look to reality they look to see what is cute and will sell. If you keep small turtles in enclosed environment the mother will guide the baby a bit, it is not such a neglectful act. But it is still cute and still sells. At least Money makes them a picture of beauty. The town I was raised in Southern Illinois, there was a reservoir about 1/8 of a mile away. A very poor family that lived down the road took care of the junk yard ( trash disposal area) and were always thought very low of by the townfolk. They used to take a little red wagon , go down to the reservoir, and catch huge turtles, stack them up and take them home and make turtle soup. They were eating a delicacy while others were making fun of them. Used to make me laugh at people's stupidity ...
