You'd want a Yamaha or something then. They last longer I'm not to familiar with Hawks but I know Yamaha and Artleyhold up best, especially in outdoor and inside. Just a piece of advice there is a difference between outdoor and indoor flutes. if it's going to be used indoor you want something like an Artley or Gemindhert. Outdoor like parades and marching you want to look at something cheap like Yamaha and Selmer and sometimes Armstrong. A hawk may be great or not so great. I'm just telling you this because I've been playing flute for a bit over 10 years now. And that includes concert and marching band. also if her school is anything like mine, borrowing an instrument is a great idea especially if they repair it for free! And from one flautist to another don't give up on flute! Even though it gets hard.
