Oriental Poppies add old fashioned charm to gardens. These perennials establish well from seed in a sunny location in well drained soil. The silky, bowl shaped flowers appear in late spring and burst from distinctive buda covered with bristly hairs. The large, showy blossoms of this favorite perennial add a dramatic accent to beds, borders and cut flower arrangements. The crepe-like red, orange, pink, salmon and white flowers bloom in early summer. Many will feature inky, dark blotches at the base of the petals and colorful stamens in the center. They will produce pods that will drop seed for germination the following spring.
