This is a really pretty pidgeon blood ruby from Burma. The only reason such a large nice stone is not in the five figure range is it's been treated to enhance the color.So even though it is a huge oval stone the high value isn't there. It's a stunning piece to wear though. SIze is a lg 8

For those who are thinking of buying this ring I wanted to let you know it's over 11 carats and a BIG oval, The color is much prettier than the picture, it's that dark blood red everyone thinks of when you say ruby. but is so hard to find.

I din't make a note when I set it but I know it's not Sterling so it is either Rhodium over silver or Argentium which is a non tarnish type of silver in the same class as sterling. My expense stuff is only set in sterling or gold. I don't use plate for any settingsat all.Sorry I can't be more help. I knew this stone was a give away so I just didn't pay attention. Bad jewelry maker bad. If you really want it in a up graded setting we'll talk.

This is a absolutely beautiful ring. If this stone had not been treated I would have set it in gold and sold for a chunk of money. I got it as a premium from one of my suppliers so I just set it and priced it cheap. Shipping on this without insurance or frills should only run about 2.00. However if you do buy it I will waive the shipping this once.
I personally have an untreated Burmese pidgeon blood ruby of about the same weight that is emerald cut and it never fails to get noticed when I wear it. You'll enjoy wearing it and no one will ever know it isn't a very expensive ring.
