I'm assuming its generic. All it says is Bluetooth AU476. They are only $30 at Best Buy but I did pair it with my blackberry and made a call it works great and the audio is clear and the range is pretty accurate. We live in a 2 story and left my phone upstairs and made the call downstairs in the basement you can call a contact by saying the name from your address book or by phone number if the number isn't stored in your phone

does this headset only work on phones or will it serve as a game headset for game consoles as well? I mean like if I were to get on an xbox or ps3 and want to play a game could I use it for that also or do you know?

The headset is compliant with Bluetooth Specification 2.0 It will work on any Bluetooth device that supports headset profiles 1.1 and 1.5 you will need to check your manual of the system of call them to see if your device will pair It will my pc but i am not sure of the gaming system i would assume so but check your manual to be positive or look your model number up online
