The listing, .925 SILVER RING * WHAT IS THE STONE? has ended.
This ring is absolutely stunning! But what is it? I received it in a jewelry lot from an estate sale, I'm sure someone thought it was just costume jewelry. The ring is marked .925 silver and there is a 2nd mark that for the life of me I cannot read. Now for the stone... I did some research online and I believe it might be a mystic topaz. The colors in it are so beautiful the pictures do not do it justice. There is a cz on each side of the ring. I think the size of the ring to be about a 6 1/2 or 7. It is slightly tarnished and needs to be cleaned.
I always ship free in the U.S. to Listia verified addresses only.
If you fan me I will fan you back.
I added some pics, two showing the ring with a dime for comparison and the third shows the box I will send it in.
Questions & Comments
It may be "mystic topaz" or "mystic fire topaz".... I've seen it called both. Go to either Google & search images for mystic topaz rings or do a search on Amazon for mystic topaz rings & see if those look like it. :)
thank you for the ideas! I had googled the mystic topaz but I hadn't checked amazon till now. I checked both the mystic topaz and fire opal and I am leaning toward the mystic topaz. Such a beautiful stone! When I first got the ring it was pretty dirty and I didn't think much of it. then I cleaned it a bit and was stunned by the stone.
it is a beautiful ring im wearing the one identical to it right now. its a avon ring. its sterling silver the small stones are czs and the big stone is a arora borealis crystal. 925 yw for the info its a great ring bid on it for her u wont regret it i love mine
I'm sorry. I don't have cancer. I'm sorry if that was implied. It wasn't meant to be. I was saying that I have the silver polishes and that is what they say on the jar and the bottle of TarnX. I was just trying to say that they can not only harm you, but harm your jewelry as well. I've seen that silver jewelry cleaner that I got from Amazon, almost eat a piece of jewelry. And that if you were cleaning the ring to be very careful/ I guess I didn't explain myself clearly. I apologize for that.
I'm so glad I misunderstood, I mean I'm glad you don't have cancer! That is good info to have about the cleaner tho. I hadn't realized it was so risky to use. Thank you!
Be very careful what you clean it with. On the fire opals and mystic topaz alike, some cleaners will make them cloudy looking. Silver polish (silver jewelry polish) is the worst. so is TarnX Both of those are known to have a chemical that will (not can) cause cancer. Even the silver jewelry cleaner you buy on Amazon. I know because that's where I got it, and it says so on the label. Scary stuff. But the silver paste that you clean your serving dishes with is fine. Just thought I'd throw that out there since you mentioned about cleaning. Sorry, not trying to conduct a class or anything
Wow, this is a beautiful color, reminds me of alexandrite. Most of the mystic topaz I've seen is darker, more purple & green than pink, but who knows. It is very pretty! Good luck everyone!
I think it looks exactly like a fire opal I once had. But it seems there was another name to it as well, but I can't remember what else. I definitely don't think it's a mystic topaz for a couple of reasons. The mystic topaz , as a rule is very dak, and it has a lot of purple in it. This looks more pinkish. I have some mystic topaz as well, and it just doesn't have the same characteristics. Either way it is a stunning ring, and I do hope, soon to be mine;)
is it possible to lay a dime or something on top of the opening so we can see what the size might be. I wear a 7 so i will be able to get a better idea? thanks watching and fan
I understand. :) I don't wear silver anymore either. I don't wear much jewelry anymore. Only rings I wear now are my mothers ring and grandmothers ring.
Thank you! If I can get to a jewelers this weekend I will see if I can find out. it really is pretty whatever it is... my curiosity is really piqued now.
I added a couple pictures showing the ring with a dime. One is with the dime (sorry the dime is old and dirty) below and one is with the dime above. I also included a picture showing the box I will send it in. Thank you for asking. :)
