Description
The listing, Used Working Quartz Crystal Westminster Chime Strausbourg Manor Mantel Clock - Free Shipping has ended.
This is a working Strausbourg Manor Quartz Japanese Movement Manor Clock. It rings on the hour with beautiful Westminster Chimes. It doesn't appear like you can turn off the chimes without snipping the wires to the speaker, but then again that's easily done and can be reattached if you change your mine.
I think this has been running for 15 years. No problems. May have cost $100 initially. It has a dark red Oak or Cherry finish. Case is real wood throughout though it appears to be well constructed plywood and particle board with real wood laminate.
The photo is not of the actual item but is identical to the model in this lot.
I think they have been making mantel clock for 100 years looking this way. It's a standard look. The insides are different then the antiques which are wind up. This one uses a C battery.
No real damage that you notice without very carefully looking. 2-3 of the wood grains on the veneer are just beginning to puff out a bit or crack because of humidity. It maybe the way it came originally. Also there are four 1/8" dings on the veneer sides.
None of this you would notice unless you are looking closely for it. It's really mint, and I just cleaned it of dust. The crystal has absolutely no scratches that I can tell. This has never been dropped and was in a mostly inaccessible location
