Moe enjoyed a 17 year career in the majors, starting as a rookie in 1956 with the Cubs. A durable starter who pitched 12 complete games in 1957, he was converted to relief in 1960. He went to Kansas City in 1962 where he got another long look as a starting pitcher, being used frequently to start games in his 4 seasons with the Athletics. His big break came when he was sold to the Cardinals after the 1965 season then, unprotected, was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the Rule 5 Draft a month later. He had his best years with the Orioles, winning 2 World Series rings and winning 21 games out of the bullpen while maintaining an ERA frequently below 2.00. He was still a bullpen ace in his last season, registering a fantastic 2.57 ERA in 1972. Moe was one of only 4 players to play with both the Kansas City A's and the Kansas City Royals.
