The listing, Vintage Brass & Copper Thermometer has ended.

This auction is for the casing only the glass is not intact. I was told it's an old candy thermometer with a reservoir that held the liquid there long enough for the thermometer to register properly. The outside is copper and the plate with the degrees on it is brass. There is also a brass hook for hanging. I bought this around 35 yrs ago and quite honestly just hung it the way it is. I collected old thermometers at the time and thought this was just beautiful all polished. It measures 2" by 10 ". No makers mark.
