The team captain, he was known as an outstanding fielder with only 9 errors in 442 put-outs including 24 assists. While only a fair hitter often fooled by breaking pitches, he managed a respectable .251 career average with two home runs and 23 RBI's. Throwing left handed but hitting right. Bush batted 7th in the lineup and played 51 games in 2 seasons on the Yale team that won the Eastern Regional Championship both years. Bush also won a letter in soccer on a team that won the New England Collegiate Championship. George Bush is one of several Presidents who have attained some degree of fame through college athletics.
