This piece of pumice comes from the Sierra nevada mountains near a volcanic area. it is very light and porous. it can float on water which makes it very unique. it can also be used to clean porcelin sinks, tubs atc.. because it scourers great but wont harm porcelin surfaces. great for a school display speciman.

it is new in regards it hasn't been used to clean any thing, however it is probably 3000 to 5000 years old as that is when they say the last volcanic activity occured in that area. I picked up in the sierra neveda mountains near a volcano in april of this year. hope that helps
