Your story really makes me think. I don't have a healthy diet and I don't exercise. There are reasons for both of these, but I still need to try harder! I did quit smoking 2 years ago, so that is a plus for me! Yay me! But I also gained 40 pounds (when I already needed to lose weight) Could you share with me why salt intake matters or where I could get the info??? My brother is a fitness nut and he had me switch to sea salt. He said it was better for me so if I wasn't going to cut out salt completely I figured I could at least make that change.

I gained a lot of weight over the yrs from bad choices. Wrong foods, eating out, not exercising etc.
Salt makes you retain water. The ave person carries 10lbs of extra water weight. Sea salt is NOT a substitute. The ave person should have 1200 mg of sodium a day. One breakfast sausage biscuit at McDonald's has your DAILY LIMIT. If ii go out to eat I have to have something made special. Pepper, garlic, onion, cappers no sauces unless i make them. I've learned to make some amazing dishes esp stir frys. Tons of veggies, herbs, spices. Brown rice or asian noodles.

I joined a website that made my menu for each week plus a grocery list. I would be glad to share some of those plus some stir fries to die for.
Congratulations on quitting smoking!

I would be happy too but I would need someone's help to answer questions. All I know is I get tested every yr because it can fool blood work. I'm limited on knowledge so spreading awareness, I really need someone's input to answer questions. Are you interested?

You put that women have different signs or symptoms then men would you mind telling me some that you know? I am 35 and my blood pressure was great until I had my second child it went up in the hospital after I had him and I have been on BP meds ever since. I try to eat better and my hubby and I work out at least 3 times a week but usually more. So I just wanted to ask. I have shortness of breath but my one bad habit is I smoke not inside but I do so I'm sure the breath thing is from that. Your story has touched me and really made me think I think its doing that for alot of people that read this and you putting this on here is a good thing to get people to think about their choices more. Thank you and God Bless!!!

Women do not always have heart symptoms. Sometimes you feel like you back shoulder blade is sore on the left hand side. It's extremely important you have a cardiologists that specializes with women heart problems. My first Dr didn't know what to look for and didn't know I had chf. I almost died. Please stop eating out. Salt a killer esp with heart patients.even if its just high bp. You know how your fingers and feet swell. ( in some people) what most people don't know is the fluid also stays around your heart making it work harder. Throw away any type of boxed meals and frozen meals. Salt is a preservative. I'm also disabled so its difficult for me to prepare meals. Veggies can be frozen! I freeze the amount needed for my meals. 4oz of meat. And live off amazing stir fries. Anyone interested email i will send a couple of recipes.
I actually no problem giving up salt and going to one cup of real coffee lol. Cigs i still have a issue with. But I have my pink electronic cig lol
If you can see a dietician PLEASE do. You learn that old saying if it tastes good spit it out isn't true. I actually enjoy food better. I even grow my own veggies now in a suburban yard :) I will be happy to send anyone photos. If you look at my dress auctions byou would never know veggies band more are there. I will give you easy tips how start off small, plus its all organic.
I hope this helps. Plus call your doctor and ask for the nurse.she can give give tips
God bless

I rarely eat out. I'm on disability so I can't afford it, plus I don't have a car. I don't make great choices, but not horrible either. My problem is that I don't feel well enough to cook most of the time. I eat a lot of lean cuisine or smart ones meals because they are doctor/nutritionist/Weight Watchers approved. I also love salad. Just lettuce, chicken and some sunflower seeds (half salted half unsalted) I have made myself switch to brown rice even though I prefer white. When I do cook I make a lot so I can freeze some to heat up later. Or I'll even just cook a bunch of chicken so I'll have it for with veggies and rice or salads. I just need to make a few more changes and be consistent. It's hard because I don't know when I'm going to feel up to doing anything. My doc recommended Weight Watchers so I keep track of what and how much I eat, but I do need to learn about some things like salt intake because their program doesn't really talk about that. I don't get why retaining water is such a bad thing..... other than it makes me feel bloated and weigh more.....

If you have info on making good stir fries without all the salt or preservatives that are in store bought stir fry sauce I am all for it. Meat and veggies are always good!
