The listing, VINTAGE Irem SHRINER'S FEZ Great Condition MASONIC Masons has ended.
Up for auction is a vintage Shriner's fez in great condition! Beautifully heavily embroidered in gold and silver with a 3-dimensional pharaoh's head in the middle of the crescent moon. Size is 7-3/8 (hand written by maker on the inside). The band on the inside is clean, unstained and securely attached.
It has a hand sewn-in label on the inside which reads: "Harry M. Osers Co. 242 West 30th St. New York Manufacturers of Fine Handmade Fezzes and Masonic Jewelry."
"Prior to the founding of Irem, eligible Masons had to travel to LuLu in Philadelphia, Pa or Rajah in Reading, Pa. Irem Shrine is located in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. It was the 71st Shrine Temple chartered by Imperial Council at Nantasket, Massachusetts during the Imperial Session of 1895.
Why "Irem"? According to legend, Irem was the most beautiful of all earthly paradises. It was constructed for Sheddad, the King of Ad, but as soon as it was completed it was struck with the lightning wand of the Death Angel and was never visible to the eye of man."
This was donated to our church mortgage fund, and it did not sell for the price they wanted at a recent sale. So I purchased it and am putting it up here in hopes that some collector will see this amazing item!
