way to go, that is an honest and awesome answer. Just like the scammers selling fake turquoise as real. 99% of the turquoise on here is junk dyed magnesite or howlite and they refuse to admit it.

Yes I know. and the 2 gemstones "Gemstone"? Like Agate-Turquoise? or Onyx -Quartz? I really would like to see one of those. Its Amazing what people list things as on here. If you have to guess- please admit its a guess. Some of us know there is no such thing.

what does the 80/20 mean, is it 20% silver and 80% base metal or 80% silver with 20% base metal, does it mean that it plating is 20% thick?

Sterling silver wire is 9.25 with 90 and .25% real silver and .75% base metal. The reason for the sterling mixture is that real (Fine) silver is very soft and not marketable for all jewelry to be made with, and hold it's shape. The .75 is just enough of a harder base metal to toughen the silver enough to make it hold shape and make it more durable, for all jewelry designs and wire. 80/20 is basically Silver filled, as in gold filled, base metal (in this case copper) of 80% covered by 20%silver. It is heavy plating."silver filled" sounds like it should be filled with silver, but the name is actually the reverse of what it says. Some are charging 20,000 for PLATED rings and getting it on here! 80/20 is a good product though, but it is only 20% silver.
(I probably should have explained that sorry.)
There is also no guarantee that the silver would never wear thru to the copper- but when you see this wire! It is so pretty! I am auctioning it because I have gone to all sterling (I am a jewelry artisan by trade)
I understand, with all the scammers listing (at best) CZs (actually real diamonds but man made ) "Topaz" lately- if you took these "White Topaz" rings to a jeweler they would charge you for an appraisal fee (what these scammers on here, are betting on) but they are most likely not white, blue, green pink (now that's funny-PK>PK) topaz stones. It makes it hard for honest folks to list .Those "Topaz" rings are sold on Ebay/Asia and are are 80/20 sterling but they will not tell you that. (stamping of metals in Asia does not follow the strict rules of the US.- they can put .925 on anything) Some listings are honest, but I have been blocked for questioning others. LOL they said "Aw, its free ain't it? what do they want?"
How about an honest auction? Oh- ELECTROPLATED IS THE thinnest plating! Have a question about something on auction?-ONLY IF I CAN- I will ID it for you. Honestly.
