Description

The listing, American Beauty Plant or Beauty Berry Deet & Food! has ended.

You get one small rooted plant.
I moved to Texas, saw this plant, & said, I hope I can have a beautiful plant like that in my yard! Low and behold they are everywhere and they are useful!:-)
Mowing my yard I took leaves rubbed on my clothes then stuck them in my pockets, NO MORE Mosquitoes! Wonderful stuff.

There is much to say about this plant! More than there
is room here for! Amazing Beauty Berry is edible raw or jelly and Leaves are an insect repellent! Used for years under harnesses of Mules to repel bugs! Please read the web links for more info!

Make Jelly or eat berries fresh, take heed only a small amount at one time to see how you will react to the chemicals in the berries. see site:: http://www.eattheweeds.com/beautyberry-jelly-on-a-roll/

Warm weather brings out the big three of biting bugs: mosquitoes that transmit West Nile virus, deer ticks that carry Lyme disease and, in warm climates, fire ants that can quickly take over your yard. Instead of using toxic DEET to protect yourself, wouldn’t it be great to use leaves gathered from a native shrub? Go to: Visit the MOTHER EARTH NEWS

American beauty berry is easily grown in moist, partial shade in Zones 7 to 9, and in protected sites near buildings in Zone 6. Among ornamental species, Cantrell notes that leaves of Japanese beauty berry (C. Japonica , hardy to Zone 5) contain both compounds.
Plants now are in bloom so no berries they come in the fall.
Thank you good bidding to all.

Some despicable family member mowed down my one plant. Wish I could replace it.

Hope you can bid and win, don't despair I have quite a few and have given uncle identification of these so he won't mow down little ones! :-)
