here we have the beautiful "black magic" hollyhock, alcea rosea nigra. i am very excited about this auction! planted these seeds for the first time last year & they are really starting to pop!

this is a wonderful multi-purpose flowering plant. the roots, leaves, & flowers are edible. soothing tonic or tea can be made from the blossoms. these look gorgeous outside and are very pretty in flower arrangements. as an added bonus you can plant them in or around flower beds as a natural way to deter deer- they don't like the leaves very much. if you have a cottage style garden as i do, these are very impressive. they can reach 6 feet tall, adding height & interesting foliage.
