Ok, here is the story as I understand it. It is called the Clark Coin Story. Congress was tired of the way our money looked and wanted something beautiful. They told the mint to do something with Clark on it.... They meant the Clark of "Lewis and Clark"... But the guy running the mints name was Clark and boy were they surprised when the coin was revealed! They told the to destroy the coins and come up with something beautiful... After that we got the Buffalo Nickel ! Now almost 100 years later we finally have gotten the Lewis And Clark Keel Boat Nickel minted in 2004... And it is a beauty! And that is the Clark Coin Story. Congress passed a law that no living person EVER be put on our currency again! LoL
