The listing, Green Devotional Scapular Pendant Magnet has ended.
A scapular is a sacramental object set apart as sacred and believed to be blessed by God. In the 7th century, monks began wearing long "yokes" of cloth to remind them of their burden to serve Christ. From this came the smaller "devotional scapular", a smaller yoke of cloth worn as a necklace. This auction is for the even smaller (1x1/12") Green scapular pendant, which is one of two pendants worn on larger scapular yokes.
On September 8, 1840, an apparition of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, entrusted the Green Scapular to Sister Justine Bisqueyburu, a nun of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul. Scapulars always carry with them a set of promises made to the faithful, and the green scapular promises to contribute to the conversion of souls, particularly those who have no faith. In addition, a number of medical miracles are connected to the green scapular.
This auction is for one green scapular pendant in a clear magnetic pouch. The pouch is open on one end so that the scapular can be removed. Included with this magnet is a small religious tract, "Among Mary's Gifts," distributed by the Fatima Society.
