The listing, "Young Love Nestles in My Mullet" Unidentified Anime Cel has ended.
Here's lovely, hand painted anime cel from an unknown series. It is from Japan (naturally! lol), and very well done. It's fascinating to flip the cel over and see how the paint is layered from top to bottom, like beautiful ripples in the water. The douga (or pencil sketch) is not included, nor is a background. I keep my cels in protective cases, so they have not been exposed to the elements. The number you see on the cel is the timing number used by animators to place the picture in the correct numerological sequence.
This cel is an average one, not overly-wrought, so the show was probably mid-level. Not a super popular show, nor kiddie fare. The painting is somewhat muted, but well done. It is stuck to the light green paper, it came that way and I never attempted to remove it. If you try to peel it off, be warned you may pull off layers of the cel's paint. But wait, check out her mullet! All she's missing is shoulder pads and she be the 80s poster girl. Judging from the style, I would assume the cel is from the mid eighties, probably a shoujo series.
I have a stack of unknown cels that I'll be weeding through, so if you like anime, this is a good way to build a little collection.
These cels look wonderful framed too! Each is a unique, hand painted piece of art in its own right. Just keep it out of the sunlight, or where it would get damp or cold.
