Description

The listing, Amazing Exotic Looking Voodoo Lily Corm/Bulb has ended.

Offering a Voodoo Lily Corm/Bulb. The first pic is the actual Mother with 4 babies you will receive. The other pics are stock pictures to give you an idea of how they look, (I did not think to take pictures of mine.) The mother corm/bulb that you will receive is 2.1/4 " across. Mine was planted in the spring in a planter, it got about 4' tall but did not bloom The Voodoo Lily Flowering Bulbs grow large. The mother bulb also grows larger each year, forming plants 5 to 6 feet tall with thick fleshy stems that are white with gray-green random spotting much like that found on reptiles. The Voodoo Lily, Amorphophallus bulb suddenly begins to grow during the Spring, growing into the world's largest flower, up to 9 feet tall. The voodoo lily bulb is hardy to Zone 5 and prefers well-drained soil. It grows in full sun or part shade, but the blooms last longer in the shade. The voodoo lily produces a seed head that looks like a cluster of red berries. It makes new plants through self-seeding and bulb offsets. It is best to plant the Voodoo Lily away from your house if you plant it in the ground, because the Flower smells somewhat like rotted meat for the first day or so, but I think the beauty of this exotic looking plant is worth a day or two away from your flower bed.

Hi; You are in zone 5 or 6, and the Voodoo Lily is hardy to zone 5, I live in zone 5 also so according to all the info I have the Corm/bulb can be overwintered out side, but I always dig my corms/bulbs and store them inside. as for Dahlia corms they do need to be dug and stored inside. If you bring corms/bulbs inside to store, you need to lay them out for 10-14 days or so on newspaper to let them harden off (dry) and then brush all the dirt off them then wrap loosly in newspaper and store in a cool place in a cardboard box, be sure to check them once in a while to make sure they are not rotting, Good Luck

Voodoo lily plants are hardy in U.S. Department of Agriculture zones 6 through 10. So you would not have to bring it in for winter : )

Thank you, fanned you back, they look exotic but are realy easy to grow, they do most of the work LOL. A lot of Botanical gardens have them, I.U in Bloomington had a botanical garden and they had them there, I was lucky never went when the crazy thing first bloomed, the smell would knock a buzzard over for the 1st day or so.
