I have been unable to find exact information on whether it is edible or not, it is of Chinese origin, and they are well known for Holistic medicinal use of herbs, and the only thing I could find is a Carminative and astringent, it is used to treat fluxes, dropsy and nausea. Having said that I WOULD definately consider it a ornamental plant, and used to attract some butterfly? You might find out more from a Nature Store? Thanks for the question
