This is truely an ALL PURPOSE soap!!

This is pretty much the ONLY soap my family uses. Since my family has sensitive skin we use to buy specialty soap that cost $20+ per bottle now we get the same results from this little bar and it will last 2 adults about 2 months in the shower. Plus we have it in our camping gear.

You may have never heard of it but you can be sure your grand parents and great grand parents and great great grand parents back to 100 years ago probably used it for everything from washing thier clothes to doing thier dishes to taking a bath.

From what I’ve gathered, at already 100-years old starch, soap, and candle-making pioneer, William Colgate & Company started manufacturing lye-based Octagon Soap in the early 1900s (Colgate’s toothpaste-in-a-tube concept entered mass production in 1908 and to this day is probably the company now known as Colgate-Palmolive’s most well-known product).

Although there’s plenty of information out there about the history of Colgate, I couldn’t find that much regarding the specific history of Octagon Soap. All I know is that after over 100 years in production, it’s still around (although much more hard to find), still not very attractive-looking, and still a favorite of cost-conscious home keepers and admirers of everything and anything throwback."

Yes! It lathers great! I even use it to shave with!
I don't really know how to explain the smell...no flowery or perfum smell...it just smells clean. It does not have a strong smell either. I wish I could describe the smell better for you, it's just not like any other soap on the market. I can only say it is a clean feel good smell. I enjoy it anyway especialy in the morning or after a long hard day. Good question though...thanks for asking : )
